The first ever Garage Sale Trail that was held in Bondi during May-2010 has won a prestigious Green Globe Award at last night’s ceremony at NSW Parliament House, Sydney.

The Media Award for Excellence in Sustainability Communication acknowledged the Garage Sale Trail alongside fellow award recipients including high profile actress Kate Blanchett.  

Garage Sale Trail executive director Darryl Nichols commented that ‘The Green Globes is the most distinguished sustainably award in NSW so it’s a great result. Background
The Bondi Garage Sale Trail was a collaboration between Surry Hills based agencies, Rodriguez and Republic of Everyone and was further brought to life via a close working relationship with Waverley Council and local community media outlet The Wentworth Courier.

The Outcomes
* 126 registered garage sales on one day in Bondi
* $100k pocket money was made
* 15 shipping containers worth of waste offset , and
* The Garage Sale Trail successfully united the community & delivered an authentic sense of civic pride

What’s Next
The Garage Sale Trail is going national and we want people all over Australia to get involved! Imagine, not only the waste saved from landfill, but the fun that could be had as communities all over Australia come together.
