Garage Sale Trail Tip #4 - Visual Merchandising

Let’s face it if your stuff was really, really, really plush you probably wouldn’t be getting rid of it right?

So to get rid of it you have to make it look as visually appealing as possible. Wash the glasses (see former tip re: no-one wanting manky teddies - same applies to manky glassware).Obvious, yet critical.

When trying to get rid of glasses, think big - think dinner setting, if you see glasses beside other appropriate items (i.e. NOT tools or toys) you’re more likely to think ‘caraffe’, ‘dinner plates’, ‘vases’ and maybe even doilies..So put all of these things together watch people walk away with bundles - not single items (see above).

The above pic also demonstrates the importance transparency.  You need to indicate price as no-one really likes to ask. Also try and avoid really sticky stickers, it can be really, really annoying if the tags are stuck to the item and you have to scrub really hard to get them off and you have sticky marks on stuff.
